What We Can Provide
Why Vital Home Solutions — Not a "Sniff & Split"
Other Utah companies send a mold dog, maybe put some tape on the walls, and then tell you to hire a professional mold assessor — that's it. We call that a "sniff and split." We send a certified mold assessor AND AWDA-certified mold detection dogs. Our inspectors find mold the dog doesn't find, including mold in HVAC systems, vents, attics and crawl spaces. We spend hours on-site, provide video walkthroughs, and deliver a complete remediation plan. We find the mold, give you a plan, and get it removed.
When to Call
Testing Methods We Use
Depending on your situation, we may recommend one or more of the following specialized tests. Not every test is needed for every home — we recommend based on your specific symptoms, history, and what we find on-site.
ERMI
Environmental Relative Moldiness Index — a dust test that measures 36 mold species to assess overall mold burden in a home.
HERTSMI-2
Health Effects Roster of Type-Specific Formers of Mycotoxins and Inflammagens — a targeted 5-species panel used to assess whether a building is safe for CIRS patients.
HERTSMI-2 Plus
An expanded version of the HERTSMI-2 panel with additional mold species for a more comprehensive assessment.
EMMA
Environmental Mold and Mycotoxin Assessment — tests for both mold species and mycotoxins in a single dust sample.
Endotoxin Dust Test
Measures bacterial endotoxins in settled dust, which can trigger inflammatory responses and contribute to sick building syndrome.
Actinomycetes (ACTINO) Dust Test
Tests for Actinomycetes bacteria — thermophilic organisms that thrive in damp building materials and can cause serious respiratory illness.
Streptomycetes
A genus of Actinomycetes bacteria found in water-damaged buildings; associated with musty odors and inflammatory health effects.
Mold Ten
A panel testing for the 10 most clinically significant mold species commonly found in water-damaged buildings.
Mycotoxin Test
Identifies and quantifies mycotoxins — toxic compounds produced by mold — in dust, air, or surface samples.
MVOC Tests
Microbial Volatile Organic Compound testing — detects the gases produced by actively growing mold, often responsible for musty odors even when mold isn't visible.
VOC Tests
Volatile Organic Compound testing — identifies chemical off-gassing from building materials, furnishings, and mold that can affect indoor air quality.
Formaldehyde Tests
Measures formaldehyde levels in indoor air — a common indoor air pollutant from building materials, furniture, and certain mold species.
